Identity Checks
Every deposit waits until your identity, age and location have been checked. These steps keep your account safe, stop minors from playing and shut criminal funds out of our games.
Verifying for a reason
We accept players solely from jurisdictions that permit it under local law, and we follow Canadian requirements on money laundering, identity and age. Verification is how we meet those requirements, and it protects you as well.
- No one else can then register an account under your name.
- It keeps players under 19 out of our games.
- It blocks stolen cards and payment fraud.
- It speeds up your withdrawals, because your details are already confirmed.
Checking identity and age
During registration we collect your name in full, your birth date, your email and the address of your home. These details are verified electronically through trusted data providers, and your location must be confirmed before we accept any deposit. At this stage, most players do not have to upload any documents.
If electronic checks can't confirm who you are, you'll upload documents in your account. Accepted documents:
- Photo identity: a current, government-issued document bearing your photo, for example a driver's licence or passport.
- Address: any recent proof of your current home, for instance a bank statement, official government mail or a utility bill.
- Payment ownership: an image of your card with all but the first and last digits hidden, or a bank account or e-wallet screenshot displaying your name.
Documents must be in full colour, sharp, valid and uncropped, with a name matching your account. Payment methods must be registered to you alone; we refuse third-party cards and wallets.
Keeping records and reporting
Under Canadian anti-money laundering rules, we must retain records of transactions and identity checks and report certain activity to the authorities.
- We store identity checks and your transaction history securely, keeping them for the full period the law sets.
- We report suspicious transactions and large cash-equivalent activity to the proper authorities as required.
- We are not allowed by law to tell a player when a suspicious transaction report has been filed.
- How we handle and protect your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy.
Handling failed checks
Your account remains restricted until we can confirm your details and every document is present, readable and matching.
- Deposits and play are paused.
- Pending withdrawals are held.
- Our team emails you explaining exactly what is still needed.
- An account will be shut if its holder is under 19, if it relies on forged documents or if it is connected to fraud.
- Funds on closed accounts are handled in line with Canadian law and our Terms of Use. Winnings tied to fraud are void.
Once we receive the correct document, most holds are lifted fast. Send it via your account, and write to us by email if you get stuck.
Asking about source of funds
Occasionally we may ask about the origin of your funds. This can follow large deposits, an abrupt shift in how you play, or a legal duty to examine things more closely.
- We may request payslips, bank statements, tax documents or records of a sale, inheritance or investment.
- For larger or ongoing play, we may also ask where your overall wealth comes from.
- We may pause play and withdrawals until we receive everything we need.
These requests are routine and not an accusation. They are part of the rules every Canadian operator works under.
Politically exposed person and sanctions checks
Every account is checked at sign-up and periodically afterwards against global sanctions lists and databases of politically exposed persons.
- Anyone listed under sanctions is barred from signing up, and any account they already hold is closed.
- Politically exposed persons, and relatives and close associates of one, can still hold an account, though they face added checks, source of funds among them.
- Senior staff approve these accounts before play continues.
Monitoring accounts over time
Verification continues after sign-up. Account activity is monitored the whole time an account remains open.
- Automated systems flag unusual activity, such as funds deposited and withdrawn again after hardly any play.
- We look for signs of shared, duplicate or linked accounts.
- When a document expires or your personal details are updated, we may ask you for fresh copies.
- Tell us promptly if your name, address or payment method changes.
Monitoring also helps us notice signs of gambling harm. See our Responsible Gaming page for the tools you can use.
